Though she’s lived and worked all over the place, Jen is from the Santa Barbara area and provided the local flavor while her groom, Ronnie, provided authentic western feel brought in all the way from Texas – drawl and all. The night before the wedding, Dana and I were invited to Jen’s mom’s house in Carpinteria to photograph Jen giving Ronnie his wedding gift – a genuine, single-action, Colt .45 revolver straight out of the old west.
The following morning we met up with Jen and her bridal party at the Summerland First Presbyterian Church to shoot prep and to get ready for the ceremony. It was the perfect venue for them. The pews were full and their guests were all focused on Jen as she was escorted up the aisle by her father to join Ronnie. Soon after, Journey and Chloe were led in by Cassie (Lil’ Red), actually, it was more like Cassie was led in by Journey and Chloe ; ) After the ceremony, transportation to the reception at the Carpinteria Women’s Club was provided by Edgar from Stardust Cruises Limousine Service in the form of a blazing red, 1920 Classic Model A Ford Stretch Limo…one of THE coolest vehicles I have ever seen. Music and DJ skills were provided by RJ The Sound Guy.
The whole wedding had a very personal feel to it, each part of the ceremony and reception reflected who Jen, Ronnie and their families are – from the puppies-turned-ring bearers, to the wedding cake made by Jen herself, Ronnie’s Texas-sized mustache, cowboy hat, gun-belt and boots and, especially, the sweet dance moves that seemed to flow so naturally out of everybody in Jen’s family…so much fun. Dana and I said to eachother more than once during the course of the night how lucky felt to be a part of this wedding and how welcome we felt among Jen, Ronnie and everyone in attendance.
