Jennifer & Ian are a match made in heaven…or some other really cool place. I feel extremely fortunate to have been the one they came to and trusted with preserving the love, beauty and personality of their day. Everything about this day was either perfect, beautiful or cool…I even woke up in a good mood, looking forward to their wedding even though we had only met the week previous.
We started shooting Jen’s prep in her room at Hotel Mar Monte in front of a window looking out over East Beach on one of those rare, sun-shining-bright-in-the-clear-blue-sky-days that we have every so often here in Santa Barbara ; ) She was calm but excited to make the cross-town journey to Alice Keck Park in one of cleanest, most classic 1955 Chevy’s I’ve ever seen. At the park she was led up the aisle to Ian (who looked pretty damn cool and calm in his tux and chuck’s) behind two cute, little, pink-petal dispensing flower girls. The contrast between Jen’s flawless white dress and the intricate tattoo work that came up her back and down her arms was a shining example of the perfect, the beautiful and the cool mentioned above that characterized the entire day.
After the ceremony, Jen and Ian got into cool blue 1963 Impala for a trip down lower State Street where everybody down town that day stopped what they were doing to acknowledge Jen and Ian and their personal classic-car show, whistling and shouting out their congratulations to the newly weds the whole way down.
Upon arriving at their reception at Hotel Mar Monte, Jen and Ian were introduced by their friends and family by DJ Zeke where the party began, the dancing ensued and good times were had by all.
I don’t know exactly how many times I thanked them for getting in touch with me for their wedding photography, but one final time, thank you Jennifer and Ian, sooo much. I felt welcome and comfortable with you both from the moment we first sat down and met. I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do.
